Vesna Križ was born in Slovenia and has been living in Sweden since 2010. She began playing the flute and piano at a very young age. After completing music school in both instruments, she pursued advanced studies in flute.
She studied flute at the University of Ljubljana – Academy of Music, first under Prof. Boris Čampa and later with Prof. Matej Zupan, graduating in 1997.
Her teaching career began in 1989. Throughout her pedagogical work, she has guided her students to numerous successes at national and international competitions and festivals, achieving exceptional results that reflect her dedication to music education. Many of her students are now professional musicians, performing in various orchestras in Slovenia and abroad. She has also served as a jury member for TEMSIG, Slovenia’s music competition and was awarded for outstanding achievements in education.
In her continuous pursuit of musical and pedagogical excellence, she has attended masterclasses with renowned professors such as Irena Grafenauer, Andrea Oliva, János Bálint, Barbara Gisler-Haase, Erwin Klambauer, Emmanuel Pahud, and others. Her career has been primarily dedicated to teaching.
After moving to Sweden in 2010, she continued her pedagogical work and artistic performances. Driven by a desire to facilitate access to musical education for children with special needs, she furthered her studies in Special Education and successfully completed her training in this field.
Currently, she is temporarily teaching flute in Slovenia at the Conservatory of Music in Ljubljana and the Music School in Vrhnika. As a flutist and piccoloist, she occasionally collaborates with various orchestras and chamber groups, performing across different genres, from classical to jazz. Above all, she remains committed to passing on her knowledge and love of music to young musicians.
